Placeholders

Built-in values, PlaceholderAPI and how unresolved values behave.

A placeholder is a token between percent signs. Use placeholders in text, bar values, player head sources, item materials and conditions.

PlaceholderAPI

When PlaceholderAPI is installed, any token that is not built in is passed to it. Results are cached per player for hud.placeholder-cache-ticks. PlaceholderAPI is called on the server thread, as its expansions expect; composing the HUD happens on a separate thread.

Unresolved values

A token nobody resolves is an empty string in game. In a condition it compares equal to "". The editor shows unresolved tokens as written so you can spot them.
