Choosing a font

  1. Select a text element.
  2. Open the Font menu in the Typography section of the inspector.
  3. Search by name or scroll the list. Every font is shown in its own typeface.
  4. Pick a font, then adjust the size. Size is the glyph height in GUI pixels.

Most built-in fonts read well at 9 to 14 for body text and 14 to 24 for titles. Press Start 2P and Silkscreen are wide, so 6 to 8 is usually enough.

Limits

  • Bold applies to the Minecraft font only.
  • Text width in game follows the metrics of the font, so leave room in the text box when a value can grow.
  • A font may not contain every character. Characters outside basic Latin can be missing.

Licenses

The fonts are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, except Permanent Marker, which is distributed under the Apache License 2.0. The license text of each font is at /fonts/library/licenses/<key>.txt, for example /fonts/library/licenses/cinzel.txt.
